New Stepper (controlled stepper drive)

The energy saving stepper drive "New Stepper" is controlled this way, that current flows only if the motor
 really needs the torque. For this driver system the Stepper Motor must be equipped with a suitable encoder.

The advantages are: 

• To divide in half the energy consumption
  
• To increase the operational safety
  
• To increase the motor dynamics
  
• To double the thermal  reserve of the drive, or to reduce equipment costs.
  

Based on this idea, we started extensive studies in cooperation with the IMS, Institute of Mechatronic Systems, Zurich University of Applied Sciences Winterthur (ZHW) and with the support of the federal office of energy ( BfE ).
